If Only They Could All Go Like ThisEver since our friend Rebecca and her parents took us to a New Hampshire restaurant run by a British couple who made the most quintessential fish 'n' chips on the planet, Paul and I have a running joke about platonic ideals. This week the platonic ideal of a Pilgrimage sign-up happened, as follows: I posted something on a social medium. (I don't know which one. I don't even know what I posted.) One of my online acquaintances saw said post, noticed that it mentioned my being a spiritual director, tracked down the-pilgrimage.org, and signed up for a free consult. We met for said consult. The spiritual direction thing is pending, but we both agreed that Stepping Into the Story would definitely be a good fit for her right now. I sent her the link. She signed up. Actually, all three people in that cohort signed up about that easily. Friends, this has never happened this perfectly in the ten-year history of the Pilgrimage. I hope it starts to happen more often. In the meantime, I'm just really happy it happened this way this time! Also, I'm posting more about The Pilgrimage on social media. Videos, even. You may have noticed. Here's a recent one. ![]() Meanwhile, There's Another July Zoom Party!Last year we had a birthday party for me. This year we're celebrating the anniversary of The Pilgrimage. Technically it's not until October, but I'll be traveling that month (more on that at the party), so this made more sense. Especially if you've been part of the Pilgrimage at any time in its history, I hope you can be there. Here's the Basic Itinerary (Eastern Time)6:50PM - You all gather, post where you're from in the chat or whatever, and I make sure I know how to work all the technological things I'm hoping to try to do that evening 7PM - Welcome! 7:05PM - Pilgrimage Retrospective* 7:15PM - Recognition of Fiscal Sponsors: Missions Door, The Sanctuary at Woodville, Build a Better Us 7:40PM - Overview of Annual Report 7:50PM - Update on 501c3 application process, as well as imminent needs 8:05PM - Q&A and Discussion 8:30PM - Conclusion and Thanks *I'm hoping the Retrospective will be a video. If you are a Pilgrimage alum and/or a Pilgrimage Outfitter and could make a 30-second or less video which you text or email me by next Wednesday (July 16), and in which you make a one or two sentence statement about why the Pilgrimage is important/important to you, that would be extremely helpful for this endeavor. Thank you. This program is subject to change, of course, but I think this essentially what we can all expect.
Annual Report, and Summer AvailabilityI have written a pretty thorough Annual Report for the last twelve months, which should help streamline our discussions and presentations on July 30th. If you can't open the file here, I have also posted it to my Substack, Gathered and Scattered. Pilgrimage Annual July 2024-June 2025.pdf Meanwhile, I am closing appointment availability for the rest of this month and the month of August. If we already have an appointment scheduled, fear not! We will still meet! (AND...I'm really hoping I see you on the 30th!) I'm just not adding anything else to my schedule during this time of deep transition. My last Sunday at Central Baptist is August 10th. I am taking the following two weeks off, and then starting my DMin and the new season of Pilgrimage programming on August 25th. As of right now, sign-ups and email addresses and donation links remain the same--most likely at least through the end of 2025. The Wednesday afternoon cohort of Stepping Into the Story has one spot left. The Tuesday evening one has four open spots. Maybe there can be some more "platonic" sign-ups in the next few weeks. 😊 Travel well, Jenn 🐪 |

Today is the first day of full-time The Pilgrimage! I have a new Pilgrimage email address! (Hopefully this didn't end up in your spam filter.) I'm now working on Mondays for the first time in about seven years so I can commiserate with all the "Monday" memes! The Listening Post resumes tomorrow! (Considering how late I completed writing this thing and when I'm sending it, for some of you I suppose it might be "today" already.) I hope you're going to join us for one of these. We'll meet from...
Something New! Nothing new with the programming, but as I try to more appropriately organize the work of the Pilgrimage in 2025 (our 10th anniversary year!) I will be sending out periodic (probably monthly) short-form updates with scheduling options for you. Normally they won't have quite the following level of information. If you would prefer not to get these updates but would still like to receive the every-other-month newsletter, please make sure you manage your subscription via the...
It's time to try something different...and so behold: the Layte annual Christmas letter in digital form! Thanks for reading our news. Thanks for sending us yours. Home and Family In March, Paul and I took the dogs to chilly Portland, Maine, to celebrate our 12th anniversary weekend. I got to introduce Paul to Popham Beach, where my mom's side of the family used to vacation when I was a kid. We're grateful for--and continuing to enjoy!--our life together and are looking forward to the next...
